Even if you find the perfect RV at Capital RV Center, you may still dislike a few things about its interior space, especially if you bought a pre-owned RV that’s in need of some modern updates. If you’ve got a DIY streak, check out these tips before you proceed with your renovation project.
Redoing Your Walls
Nothing is quite as cost-effective at transforming a space than painting. If you’ve got dated wallpaper or a paint color you just don’t like, redoing the wall in an RV isn’t dissimilar to painting your walls at home. Just make sure that the walls of your RV are clean and free of particles, then apply a latex based paint. If an area sees high use, like around the entry or next to the dining table, use a satin or semi-gloss finish paint, which wipes cleaner. If you are painting over wallpaper, there’s no need to remove it. In fact, it might actually make your painting job more difficult. Just make sure that all the edges are glued down and flat, prime the wall with some good primer, and apply at least two coats of paint. You’ll never know the difference!
Upgrade Your Windows
RV wall space possesses a decent amount of windows depending on your model. While there’s the functional blinds, there’s also the curtains, which give you all sorts of customization options in terms of color, patterns, and texture. And even those functional blinds can be pretty, as some blinds are built for aesthetic purposes as much as sun-blocking. If you want to get extra DIY, make your own curtains with a fabric of your choice.
Change Up Your Flooring
A relatively major project to take on, but sometimes your floors need an update. Maybe you’re tired of that carpet and want some wood, or maybe that tile is cold on your feet and you’d prefer some new carpeting. Whatever the case, the best materials to use for an RV are laminate wood flooring, linoleum, peel and stick vinyl, and carpeting.
If you don’t want to take on reflooring, you can just add some throw rugs instead. These help to add color and patterns to your interior and can be easily changed out.
